1 About Us

Remarks on Political Violence (Remarks OPV) is a trading name of MB Media Consultancy Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), registered in England and Wales, with registered office at 4th Floor, Silverstream House, 45 Fitzroy Street, London, England, W1T 6EB. Remarks OPV publishes political violence intelligence through a subscription newsletter, providing structured analysis for institutional and professional subscribers.

By accessing remarks.org or subscribing to our Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

2 Definitions

In these Terms, the following definitions apply:

• Company: MB Media Consultancy Ltd, trading as Remarks OPV.
• Cookie: a small data file stored by your browser, used for analytics and session management.
• Free Trial: the first calendar month of a new subscription, provided at no charge.
• Newsletter: the Remarks OPV intelligence brief, published on a regular schedule and delivered to subscribers by email.
• Service: access to the Remarks OPV Newsletter and any related content available through remarks.org.
• Subscription: a paid arrangement giving the subscriber access to the Newsletter on a monthly or annual basis, as selected at the point of purchase.
• Website: the Remarks OPV website, accessible at remarks.org.
• You / Subscriber: the individual or institution accessing or subscribing to our Services.

3 The Service

Remarks OPV publishes a political violence intelligence newsletter providing verified monitoring, structured impact analysis, and decision-ready intelligence on political violence dynamics. The Newsletter is available by subscription only, delivered by email on a regular schedule.

Remarks OPV will use reasonable endeavours to publish on the expected schedule. We do not guarantee specific publication dates or issue frequency, and reserve the right to adjust the publishing schedule with reasonable notice.

4 Subscriptions and Pricing

Subscriptions to the Remarks OPV Newsletter are available on the following basis:

• Monthly subscription: billed once per calendar month, giving access to all issues published during that billing period.
• Annual subscription: billed once per year, giving access to all issues published during that twelve-month period. Annual subscribers benefit from a reduced effective monthly rate compared to the monthly plan.
• Free Trial: new subscribers receive their first month free of charge. No payment is taken during the free trial period. At the end of the first month, your chosen subscription plan begins and payment is charged automatically unless you cancel before the trial ends.
• Pricing: current subscription prices are displayed on remarks.org at the point of purchase. Remarks OPV reserves the right to change subscription prices. Where a price change affects your active subscription, we will notify you by email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after the new price takes effect constitutes acceptance.

5 Payment

All subscription payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis at the applicable subscription rate.

Payment is taken at the start of each billing period (monthly or annual), following the free trial month.

• Accepted payment methods: credit card and debit card, as supported by our payment provider.
• All prices are in Pounds Sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of any applicable VAT unless otherwise stated.
• If a payment fails, we will notify you and may suspend access to the Service until payment is successfully processed.

Your payment details are handled directly by our payment provider and are not stored by Remarks OPV.

6 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to the Newsletter until that date.

• Monthly subscribers: cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the current monthly period.
• Annual subscribers: cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the current annual period.

To cancel, use the account management tools on remarks.org or contact us at [email protected].

We do not offer refunds for the current or any past billing period. Once a billing period has been charged, that charge is final, whether or not the full period is used. The free first month provides the opportunity to evaluate the Service before any payment is taken.

7 Intellectual Property

All content published in the Remarks OPV Newsletter and on remarks.org — including analysis, text, structure, and design — is the intellectual property of MB Media Consultancy Ltd and is protected by United Kingdom and international copyright law.

Subscribers are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to read and use Newsletter content for their own internal professional purposes. Subscribers may not reproduce, redistribute, republish, or share Newsletter content externally — in whole or in part — without express prior written consent from Remarks OPV.

8 Licence to Use the Website

Remarks OPV grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive licence to access and use remarks.org for the purpose of accessing the Service, strictly in accordance with these Terms.

9 Restrictions

You agree not to, and will not permit others to:

• Reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit any Newsletter content or material from remarks.org without prior written consent.
• Share subscription access or login credentials with any person who is not the named subscriber.
• Reverse engineer, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the website or its content.
• Remove or alter any copyright or proprietary notice belonging to Remarks OPV or MB Media Consultancy Ltd.

10 Cookies

We use cookies on remarks.org for analytics and session management. Cookies do not store personally identifiable information. You may disable cookies via your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly as a result.

11 Third-Party Services

Remarks OPV uses third-party providers for payment processing and email delivery. We are not responsible for the terms, practices, or availability of those services. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience only; Remarks OPV is not responsible for their content or accuracy.

12 No Warranties

The Service and website are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind. MB Media Consultancy Ltd disclaims all warranties to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.

13 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MB Media Consultancy Ltd’s total liability to you shall not exceed the total subscription fees paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the relevant claim.

Remarks OPV shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, including loss of business opportunity or reputational damage. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

14 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MB Media Consultancy Ltd, its directors, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

15 Term and Termination

These Terms remain in effect for as long as you hold an active subscription or use the website. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or misuse of the Service. Outstanding payment obligations survive termination.

16 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify active subscribers by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17 Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. We will always attempt to resolve disputes in good faith before any legal proceedings are commenced.

18 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and all remaining provisions continue in full force.

19 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MB Media Consultancy Ltd regarding your subscription to and use of the Remarks OPV Service.

If you believe any content on remarks.org infringes your copyright, please contact [email protected] with: (a) your signature; (b) identification of the infringing material; (c) your contact details; (d) a good faith belief statement; and (e) a statement of your authority to act, under penalty of perjury.
